With PE design plus from brother the options for making customized and personalized embroidery are virtually endless this affordable software which is compatible with almost all brands of home and broidery machines offers easy to use yet powerful design editing features that will have you customizing everything from jackets baby blankets and hats to handbags and wall hangings let's take a quick look at some of the options to start you'll need to bring a design into the program to do this left click once on the import pattern icon you can import designs from programmed cards from file which means from any folders in the computer or a device that is plugged into the computer or from the design library built into PE design plus click on from design library the PE design library has four categories borders and banners floral miscellaneous and shapes select any category and scroll to see your design options once you've chosen a design there are three ways to bring it into the stitch field you can left-click once on the design which will highlight it once highlighted left click once on import the design will be centered in the stitch field you can also simply double-click the design to bring it in and Center it in the stitch field or you can left-click once to highlight the design then left-click and drag it to place in your desired location to close the import window left click once on the red X in upper right-hand corner of the window now that your design is in the stitch field you have several options for how to resize it in PE design plus when you resize a design the stitch count will also be recalculated to ensure that the stitch quality remains the same from the original design to your resized version to change the size when the pattern is selected simply move the mouse to any corner to get a double arrow and hold down the control key an icon will appear indicating that the stitch count is going to be recalculated drag the double arrow to your desired size and you'll see the size and stitch count displayed in the bottom-left of the work area the other way to resize the design which resizes without repositioning the design is to select any corner until you see the double arrow then hold down the control and the shift key at the same time while you left-click and drag the design want to rotate your design it is as simple as moving the mouse to the red dot at the top center of design left clicking and dragging to the desired angle want to change the design color from blue to pink no problem to change the color select the area you want to change from the stitching order on the left side of the screen click on the thread spool on the right side of the work area and a color chart will appear select color notice design change the thread color chart has dozens of options to fulfill your personal style to make the change simply click on the down arrow and drag it until you reach your desired thread palette left click once you can also move your design in the work area by left-clicking on the design you'll see eight black boxes appear meaning the design has been selected position the mouse on your design and when a cross appears left click and drag to the position of your choice you can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard for even more precise movement than you may achieve with the mouse the real fun of PE design plus is that it allows you to add custom text to any design meaning you can personalize every project you make to add text left click on the text icon with the capital letter a left click once in the work field type in your text here we'll type in Susy press ENTER to see your text you can now resize rotate position or change color as desired click on your text and drag it to your desired position the text will appear in a random color to change this color to a color that has already been assigned in the design click on the thread spool in the right side of work area the colors used in the design will appear in the rectangular box below the color chart to choose a color from the design.
